Why Do Couples Choose a Bradley
Class?
Birth is a profound passage into parenthood for both a mother
and her partner. Couples looking to work together through their labors often
seek out Bradley classes. Mindful Birth NY classes offer mothers an appreciation
of normal birth and many ways to handle labor. But we also offer partners a
rounded preparation for the intense work of supporting a woman through labor.
This includes a deep understanding of how birth works, practical ways to support
a laboring woman through the different phases of labor and any complications
that might arise, tips on communicating with hospital staff, hands-on practice
with massage and more. Couples devote extra time to birth preparation with a
Bradley class, and find that having a host of strategies makes it time well
spent no matter the course of their labors.

In addition to mapping the many paths a labor might take, we devote a substantial
amount of time to practicing relaxation, honing pain coping
skills, working with mental imagery and/or running massage clinics and labor
rehearsals. The idea here is simple: learning about coping with labor is good,
but it is getting these skills IN our bodies that can make a huge difference
in labor.
Please note that it is possible to join a series late, space permitting. To
do so will require scheduling a catch-up (at no extra cost). Also, if the time
in which you are due bumps up against the end of a series, please email or call
to see what arrangements can be made.
